Noni McVey - A Faithful Servant
July 15, 2014
Jeff Reed
Noni Mcvey, a longtime member of the Church of God and founder of the Infuse magazine and ministry passed away Monday, July 14. Updates on memorial services can be found here: http://dotdigital.com/noni/ . This letter from her minister David Antion of Guardian Ministries gives more detail:
Dear Brethren,
It is with great sadness that we received news from Dana McVey, faithful husband of Noni McVey, that she died this morning, Monday, July 14, 2014. She died the “death of the righteous” (Numbers 23:10). We have asked for prayers and so many of us have followed her struggles and her faith.
When Noni was first diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer she was given 6 months to live. She lived more than 3 times that long because of her determination, her faith, her prayers and your prayers.
We ask God but we cannot dictate to God. We accept Noni’s death as the answer to our prayers – her faith was steadfast to the very last second of her life. And because of her faith we look forward to seeing her again in the resurrection of the just.
In the Scriptures we see death as the end of this physical, earthly life. The Bible says it is appointed to humans to die once but after that it is the resurrection to eternal life for those in Christ (Hebrews 9:27). Some women in the Bible died in mid life like Ezekiel’s wife – called the desire of his eyes. Rachel died rather young during childbirth. Sarah died in old age. All were good and faithful women who loved God.
David referred to death as going “the way of all the earth.” One thing is certain for every person born – death.
When suffering happens because of disease, death is often a welcome relief. I have heard many family members who had suffering loved ones exclaim after their loved one died that they felt a sense of relief. This relief comes, not because they wanted the loved one to die, but because death ended the suffering and misery their loved one was experiencing.
On behalf of the McVey, Chamberlain and Barnett families, I want to thank you for your prayers and the many cards and letters filled with caring and encouraging words that were sent to Noni. Your good works will not be forgotten.
A memorial service will be scheduled for Noni McVey and we will let you know the time and date when it has been determined.
Thank you all for your love and concern. Your prayers will now be appreciated for Dana McVey, Jordana McVey, Elizabeth Barnett and members of the Loren and Paddy Chamberlain family.
With love and gratitude in Christ,
David Antion for Guardian Ministries
